Although most people might think the two of us met at the Attorney General's Office, we actually met a few months prior to Paige starting at the AGO. In early 2018 the two of us met when Greg walked into an Audrain County courtroom for a docket while Paige was there as an intern for the local prosecutor's office. The local attorney sitting next to Paige that afternoon was familiar with Greg, and when Greg walked into the courtroom he whispered to Paige, "you see that attorney over there, he's the smartest guy in this room."
Greg and Paige quickly formed a friendship when Paige started working at the AGO in 2018. As colleagues, we tried a few cases together, including a murder trial in Greg's hometown during that first year. In spring of 2019 Greg temporarily moved to St. Louis for an initiative the AG was carrying out. Shortly after Greg moved, Paige visited and stayed with friends who lived down the hall from Greg's new apartment. Paige had tickets to the Cardinals v. Cubs game that weekend on June 1, 2019, and asked Greg if he wanted to join her, to which he agreed. Two days later we agreed that was our first date.
Greg pulled off the ultimate surprise by showing up at the Empire State Building to pop the question while Paige was in New York on a girl's trip with her mom and friends.
